Spannerworks Search Engine Optimiser, SEO CV
In my role as a search engine optimiser for Spannerworks LTD, I have carried out search engine optimisation for a large number of Blue Chip clients, large e-commerce websites, charities and Information sites including BT, Scottish Widows, Thomson (Tui), Virgin, CheapFlights and NCH, The Childrens Charity.
The role of a search engine analyst for Spannerworks involved both expert technical knowledge in the field of web development & an indepth understanding of search engine technologies and optimisation. My Core Competancies include excellent technical problem solving skills, project management and communication skills. In a general week as an SEO I may carry out the following tasks:
- Implementation of SEO strategy to boost rankings and traffic in major search engines.
- Web page building using basic HTML, PHP, ASP, .net and coldfusion, keeping W3C & DDA compliancy in mind - Plus the use of content management systems (CMS), producing XML feeds and advising on RSS uses.
- Link Acquisition - sourcing relevant on-topic links from hubs, authorities and the web community to boost relevancy of website in search engines.
- Client problem solving - clearly communicating with clients to resolve technical queries and issues with search campaigns.
- Attending client meetings to discuss our search optimisation strategy, project planning or advising in knowledge workshops.
- Implementation and analysis of various tracking software platforms including Cookie Based applications such as Webtrends, Hitbox and Urchin, our own in-house tracking solution plus analysis of logfiles for search engine spider activity.
- Carrying out research of search engine algorithm changes - including tests to detect the effectiveness of our search engine optimisation methodology.
- Monitoring changes to search engines by participating in forums, reading and producing white papers
In order to carry out these duties, I have nurtured many skills including an indepth knowledge of major search engine indexing and ranking methods. I always work to a clients search engine marketing objectives and engage in my client's business sector to enable full analytical and insightful optimisation recommendations.
My competancies for the role include:
- Strong communication skills - particularly questioning and listening in order to fully meet clients expectations of our product offering and company
- Ability to communicate SEO complicated technical recommendations through articulate written documentation including email and excellent verbal communication both over the telephone and face to face meetings
- Ability to effectively and confidently communicate to colleagues at all levels including technical & marketing managers and directors.
- Ability to cope with competing demands, to prioritise tasks and time manage large numbers of campaigns.
- Ability to strike a balance between usability and search engine optimisation requirements to meet clients needs through.
- Capability to work both independently and as part of a project team to successfully problem solve, generate ideas and implement technically challenging solutions
